Happy Grandparent's Day!

How many of you know that there IS a "Grandparent's Day"?!
I think we're getting the short-end-of-the-stick!
I've never seen a mushy Hallmark commercial for a card for us grandparents.
Have you?

This year it falls on Sunday, September 12th.
So I'd like to say, to all the grandmothers and grandfathers,
and to everyone that also has that role in someones life -
"Thank you and God bless you for all that you do.
May you have a wonderful Grandparent's Day
surrounded by all those that you love and that love you!!
Enjoy your special day!!"

The above two photographs are of my grandparents.

This is my children's maternal grandfather - my father.

This is my children's maternal grandmother - my mother.

And here is one of our grandchildren's grandfathers - my husband.

And here is one of their grandmothers - lucky me!! :)

Signing off for now,

  1. What nice pictures :) you and your husband look so happy with the grandchildren! Happy Grandparent's day!!

    p.s. but you don't look like a grandmother :)))

  2. Gabriele- What a lovely, lovely family you have. I think you look a lot like your Mother-what a beautiful woman. I, like you, have such a sense of heritage. I'm sure you are passing that on to your grandchildren and I hope that at least one of them has that deep sense of historical connection.

I did NOT know it was grandparent's day. Hmmmm...that might be worth a nice little present, or two, if I could work it into the conversation~ lol Of course, the best present, is the kids themselves!

Hugs-thanks for popping by my blog and commenting...xxoo Diana

  3. Beautiful family. Thanks for visiting me over at Pittypat Paperie and leaving a nice comment about my printing on fabric.

  4. What wonderful pictures of your family! Thanks so much for your nice comments, and a belated thanks for following me! Have a great weekend :)

  5. Lol loved those quotes you posted. They really had alot of humor as well as knowledge of how hard it is to raise grandkids. My grandmother must've had a crazy time raising me, I'm pretty sure I was a handful.

  6. Ahhh. . .great photos ~ Great quotes ~ Beautiful family ~ And thanks for the heads-up about Grandparents Day! Happy Monday to all!

  7. Thanks for finding me at Cozy Blanket. I love your blog. I will be back to read more. Grandkids are a real gift from God, aren't they. I am hurrying as my Ohio ones are coming for lunch and to celebrsate Piper's 1st birthday. Piper is our Springer Spaniel. I still have to do the table and bake cupcakes. So funny, huh.
s your govenor would say, "I'll be back". ((((HUGS))))

  8. Sweet photos! My grandsons must not know about grandparent's day. :) thanks for dropping by my blog.

  11. What children need most are the essentials that grandparents can provide in abundance, unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life and most importantly

  12. A beautiful family - and some rather witty sentiments expressed at the end of your post.

I just hope one of my sons will bless me with a Grandchild. I hope.

  13. Sadly we live so far away from my daughters grandparents, but thanks for the reminder to celebrate them on Sunday!!

  14. I had to admit, I had no idea. Thanks for sharing!

  15. I love what you are doing over here! From the quotes which I will be sharing with my parents with whom my daughter and I live, to the photo evolution of your sleeper, to the silk scarf you create, it's all so fun!

(and thanks for finding and following me too :)

  16. What a gift you are to me! Happy Grandmother's week and welcome!

  17. How nice to be introduced in this grand post. Lovely to meet you.

    P.S. Thanks for stopping by.

  19. Your family is gorgeous. Happy GP day!

  20. We've just had a great summer, where my kids got to spend time with each of their grandparents, for once. A couple of the grandparents seem to be following Gene Perret's idea of grandparenting a little too closely, mind...

  21. Just had a month with my grandkids in Italy and enjoyed every minute of it! They live in the rain forest of Trinidad so I hope I'm expanding their world as well. Thanks for stopping by my blog- I agree we have lots in common. I love this land of your ancestors.

  22. Beautiful post. You look very much like your lovely mother! Thanks for your kind comment on my blog this afternoon. xx

  23. I wonder whether you know about the blog called SEPIA SATURDAY? I'm sure you would enjoy some of their photographs, too. Thank you for visiting my blog today...
