Happy Easter!

(Do not try this at home!)

Recently, while standing in line at the store, a woman in front of me

was buying a box of "Peeps".
A woman behind me said to her,

"Did you ever explode them in the microwave?".

(Say WHAAAT?!)
The woman in front, looking puzzled said, "Uh... no.".
The woman behind me said,

"They don't really explode, they just melt into puddles.".
Woman in front, "Doesn't it make a mess?".
Woman behind me,

"No, I put them in plastic baggies first. That's the only reason I buy them, to blow them up.".

How disturbing.

How could anyone do that to a sweet, defenseless Peep?!

Just look at that little face!

Oh... wait a minute... they're marshmallow and people eat them.

Alrighty then.

As some of you may know, I love, love, LOVE chocolate!!

So, I have to admit, that when I look at these foil-covered rabbit decorations,

they look SO much like the real-deal, that it drives me nuts!

(Even though I KNOW they're not!)

Imagination - it's a powerful thing.

(I'm imagining myself biting those ears off, right now!! Gimme those eeears!!)

After writing this post, I was so hungry for chocolate, that I made myself

a raw-food Chocolate Mousse! Ohhhh yeaaahhh!

Jacks. Just Jacks.

Jacks! I love 'em!! I played them as a kid and could really kick-butt.

I taught my oldest granddaughters how to play and now they kick my butt!

We play an hour before it's time for me to catch my flight back to California.

It makes a sad time a little happier for me. (Unless I lose.)

It's such a family tradition now, that they even bought me a Jacks necklace!

(It came in that special little 'blue' box!! Woohoo!!:)

Unfortunately, the oldest one couldn't play this time, because she had a guitar lesson.

So she said. The next time I'm smelling her breath for powdered sugar.

Okay, so it was just this one and myself. Heeere we go!!

Ptttth!! Not a great roll for onesies.

I gave her another shot at it and she was very appreciative. See the face?

Actually, now that I look at it, it's a little on the devious side. Hmmm.

(There's a sucker born every minute.)

Much better.

Then twosies.

Easy there, kid!

Hurryyy!!

Grab 'em!!

The ball got away from her and it's my turn. Finally!

So excited!

One... one... one...

one... one... one.

Two... two... two...

two...two...two.

That smile was short-lived.

It's her turn again and she's winning... so far.

Concentrate on that ball!

She likes knowing she's winning.

It's fun.

Reach for 'em!

Grab 'em!!

Getting down to business now!

Another round for the kid.

Hurry!

Jacks. Such a fast-moving game!!

Well, she won after fivesies. But I was a good loser. (I'm getting used to it.)

A few more photos of the rest of the family and myself, and off to the airport I went.

But I'll be back soon for another game! (Don't practice, guys!!)

And since I know my younger grandchildren are reading this...

I promise to teach you how to play, as soon as you get a little older!

(So you can kick my butt too.)

My Hand-Painted Silk Is Featured In Super Raw Life Magazine! Am I Famous Yet?

Finally!! My name in lights!!

Here's one of the pages of the magazine. That's the color-chart I painted for myself.

It helps me to decide on my color-schemes.

A corner of my studio and the art supplies - that I love!!

Trying not to use the same photos that are in the magazine,

I'll give you some of the steps of silk-painting.

New brushes!! Be still my heart!! I LOOOVE new brushes!!

To begin, I hand-washed the silk to remove the sizing.

Then the piece was hung to dry.

Next it was attached to the stretcher bars.

And the design was sketched on.

Then it was outlined with a resist.

Let the painting begin!

More painting...

And more...

And still more...

Yup. More.

The butterflies are the "Super Raw Life Magazine" logo.

This scarf was commissioned by, Michele Marie Jeppson, Editor in Chief of the magazine.

(And an all-around great gal!!)

And since she is a raw foodist -

And the magazine is about raw food (and SO much more!!) -

It was only fitting that the design should be raw food, greens, veggies and fruit.

Many, many hours later, the scarf was completed. And I was happy with the results.

(I'm my worst critic.)

After the dyes dried, the scarf was rolled between sheets of steaming paper.

Then it was steamed in a stove-top steamer, for three hours.

That makes the colors wash-fast.

After the scarf has been steamed, the colors are even brighter. Love that!

Then the excess dyes were washed-out until the water was clear.

And it was hung to dry.

The last step was ironing. (I wish everything was that easy to iron!)

And here it is - "Raw Food So Good",

14" x 70",

Crepe De Chine silk scarf.

And here is the gorgeous Michele, wearing her new scarf to the "Sundance Film Festival".

SWEET!!!!
