Super Raw Life Magazine, A Silk Scarf - And The Sundance Film Festival

This is my nephew, Brad Gruno. A great guy.
(And not too hard on the eyes.)

This is his company, "Brad's Raw Chips". Deeeeelicious stuff!!
(Please check out his website for store locations.)

This is Brad's friend, Brian James Lucas, aka, "Chef BeLive".
The creator of the most scrumptious raw cuisine!!

And here is the fabulous, Michele Marie Jeppson,
at the "Sundance Film Festival"!!
Wearing my hand-painted silk scarf, painted especially for her.
(Oh, how I wish I could have tagged along!!)

It's funny how things happen -
It all began when nephew Brad and I took a little trip to the Wine Country,
in Northern California. (More on that in an upcoming post!)
He introduced me to his good friend Chef BeLive.

Through him I found out about a fantastic magazine called,
(There is an article about him and Michele, in this issue.)
For some reason, my computer wouldn't let me download it -
So I decided to email someone there, to see if they could help me out.
I randomly picked a name... it was Michele's.

In the signature on the bottom of all of my emails, I have a link to my blog and my website.
Michele went to my website, Gabriele Agustini, and saw that I hand-painted silk scarves.
She liked my work and contacted me.

The new issue of Super Raw Life Magazine was supposed to be out today,
2/1, but I found out last night, that it was delayed. :(
I'll let you know the new date, as soon as I know!
I hope you'll take a look. Not only because it's a really, really cool magazine,
but because I'm being featured in it!! :-)
(They'd appreciate a donation, but it's a free download.)

I can't wait to see the article and the photos!
Am I concerned about the silk pieces showing up well?
The colors being correct? The studio being spotless?
No.
I'm just hoping I remembered to suck in my stomach.

Here are a few shots of work in progress,
a finished silk scarf, and some velvet scarves as well.

Silk, stretched on the stretcher-bars, ready to go.

I love, love, love painting on silk!!

I hope it shows.

"Butterflies & Fireflies" - velvet.

"Maple Leaves" - velvet.

"Asian Influence" - velvet.

I hope you'll take a peek at the magazine and the other websites as well. Thank you!

Home Again, Home Again - And Missing Everyone Already

I was visiting family in Atlanta, during the recent snow storm.
What's wrong with me?! (The snow part, not the family.)

As beautiful as snow makes the surroundings look -
Gimme my California sunshine and high temperatures!
Of course, now I miss everyone already. :(

Two of my grandbrats.

And another one.

And her again.

But wait -
There's more.

Here's my gorgeous pal -
Mom of the two blonde brats.

Speaking of...

Here's one -
Really, really concentrating on his new "DSI".
(Love the toes.)

Love the hair too.
And the kid.
And all of the screamin' brats!!

This one already knows the "I can't heeear youuu." ??!
How'd that happen?! Trouble's on the horizon!

Here they are, visiting me in my room...
Oh, did I mention that I was sick with Bronchitis for the holidays?
A real bummer.

They had a birthday party for me, at my bedside.
Oh, did I mention that I was sick with Bronchitis for my birthday?
Double bummer.
BUT, a cheesecake from the "Cheese Cake Factory" took my mind off of it!

So did these.
No, I didn't share!
As some of you know, I'm a raw-foodist, supposedly eating only healthy things.
BUT, I'm also a sugar-addict, so once I get started - look out!!
(In their defense, they didn't get me started.
I'd already hit the little corner store for my sugar-fix, days before the cake arrived.)

I bought and ate junk-food until the day it was time to leave.
Here's what I had at the airport.
Not too bad?
Well, I had two.
One before my flight and one before my connecting flight.

How beautiful is that?!
I woke up from a power-nap and thought, "Look at all that snow!" Duh.

During the flight I had these.
Two bags.
They're small.

And these.
My last hoorah, before getting back home and having this...

Greens, greens, and more greens!!!!

And my healthy green-smoothies!

Yum!!

So, I got home and was telling my husband about the four donuts, I ate at one sitting. :-*
The next day he surprised me with these...

Did I say, "No"? Of course not!
Did I share? Of course not!
Sugar-addiction is a terrible thing.
While I was sick and in the hospital, I'd lost seven pounds.
When I got home -
I'd gained six and a half of them back!
Sugar-addiction is a terrible thing.

Now, it's back to these babies, when I want something sweet!
(These don't give me headaches, or an upset stomach, or make me feel all spacey and stupid!)

Speaking of 'something sweet' -
This was the last little face I saw (my shadow!) before I left Atlanta.
(She was supposed to stay in bed. :)

I love and miss them!!

A Snowy Night In Georgia

Ah, yes...
Snow.
So pretty from behind a window, looking out.
I'm visiting my youngest son and family.
And snow was definitely NOT on the agenda of this California-girl!

This is my granddaughter -
Dreaming about the forecasted snow, no doubt.

Yes. I see the smile. :)

And heeere it is -

A dream come true!!
(For the kids.)

To continue the excitement, it was suggested to me,
(by a blow to the head) that a pillow-fight was in order.

When I got a chance,
I smacked her with her pillow and with a little adjusting,
got this picture. Our very own little princess.

Pillow fights are not kind to a girls hairdo.
What's not shown (to protect your retinas) is mine -
which didn't look much better.
The girl knows how to fling a pillow!
Wasn't looking forward to brushing that later! (OR mine.)

Finally! Time for playing in the snow!!

Better them, than me!!

One last snow-frisbee before the girls escape!
(He missed.)

This one had the right idea -
Stay in where it's toasty-warm and play.

That hair is just waiting for a pillow-fight!

My six year old grandson fell asleep while watching Oregon play.
This alone will make him mad.

The fact that they lost, will make him even madder!
Big time.

In the morning I woke up to...
Teeth.

Later that day I couldn't resist...
Her first pillow-fight!

She loved it!!
(I see many more in her future! Oh yeah!!)
